Please follow these instructions carefully in order to ensure that you are using the Snorekil mandibular advancement device properly. These instructions can also be downloaded as a PDF file. Important dental and medical information
Before using our Snorekil mandibular advancement device, it is very important that you read and understand the following information.
- You should only use Snorekil if you feel able to wear it on your teeth at night and if you have good oral hygiene and do not require any dental treatment.
- Snorekil is not suitable for full or partial denture wearers. If you are in any doubt about whether you can use Snorekil, you must consult your dentist.
- Snorekil must not be used by anyone under 18 years of age.
- Snorekil can help to relieve the symptoms of mild to moderate sleep apnoea.
- Snorekil must not be used for the treatment of Central Sleep Apnoea (CSA). It is not recommended for the treatment of serious cases of sleep apnoea. If you have been told you stop breathing completely or gasp during your sleep, you should consult a doctor or a sleep specialist before using Snorekil.

How to fit the Snorekil and find the right setting for you
Your Snorekil kit contains two mouthguards, one for the top and one for the bottom of your mouth. The top mouthguard has a pin.
The bottom mouthguard has a gate.
Top mouthguard
- Place the top mouthguard in hot water (about 70 - 75 degrees centigrade) for approximately 20 seconds.
- Remove the mouthguard using a spoon and quickly shake off any excess water.
- Put the mouthguard in your mouth and make sure that it fits squarely. Gently press the mouthguard over your top teeth and the gum area.
- Suck your thumb hard to make sure that the mouthguard fits around the backs of your teeth.
- Gently press around the mouthguard with your fingers until it fits snugly in place.
Bottom mouthguard
- Place the bottom mouthguard in hot water (about 70 - 75 degrees centigrade) for approximately 20 seconds.
- Remove the mouthguard using a spoon and quickly shake off any excess water.
- Put the mouthguard in your mouth and make sure that it fits squarely. Press around the bottom teeth and gums.
- Press down with your fingers to make sure that the mouthguard fits around the backs of your teeth.
- Press your lips together and mould the mouthguard against the front of your teeth by pressing against your lower lip with your fingers, then press your tongue firmly against the back of your bottom front teeth.
Note: the mouthguard can be reheated in hot water and these steps repeated if necessary.
After fitting, rinse both mouthguards under cold water. This cools them down and helps them keep their shape.
Connecting the mouthguards
The pictures on the right show how the mouthguards should be connected using the pin on the top mouthguard and the gate on the lower mouthguard.
- Place the pin into the first notch on the gate system (the notch nearest the front of the mouthguard).
- Before you go to sleep, put the mouthguards into your mouth and make sure they fit comfortably (see the top and bottom mouthguard instructions above).
- Try the Snorekil on the first night. If snoring is not reduced or stopped, move the pin back one notch (towards the back of the bottom mouthguard). Moving the pin back increases the amount by which your jaw is gently pushed forward.
- You can continue to move the pin back until you find the right setting for you – the one where your bottom jaw is pushed forward enough to stop you snoring.
Be patient. Give yourself at least fourteen days to adjust to wearing the Snorekil device. If you find that Snorekil works for you, and improves your sleep, then you may want to upgrade to a Snorekil Custom. Read more about the Snorekil Custom and contact us for more information.
Cleaning your Snorekil device
Your Snorekil device should be cleaned daily after you take it out of your mouth in the morning. It is recommended that you use a soft brush and non-bleach-based cleaner such as Curadent BCD Cleaner. Bleach-based cleaners or sterilizing solutions can damage the Snorekil's soft plastic material.
